Product Description

Bambu Lab Filament Track Switch is an original Bambu Lab module designed as a smart filament flow switch between the AMS system and the hotends of dual printers, primarily the Bambu Lab X2D. It allows for the release of fixed assignment of AMS units to specific nozzles and ensures that any filament from the AMS can be redirected to the left or right nozzle as needed by the slicer. This gives you dynamic filament mapping – Bambu Studio can change which AMS slot supplies which nozzle during printing, thereby:
  • significantly reducing the purge tower and waste
  • speeding up color and material changes
  • making better use of the capacity of multiple AMS units
Currently, the Filament Track Switch is supported for Bambu Lab X2D; support for H2C and H2D is planned in future firmware and Bambu Studio updates.

The maximum number of AMS units that can be connected is limited by the capabilities of the specific printer (e.g., X2D supports multiple AMS in various configurations). The Filament Track Switch acts as an intelligent hub, so it does not limit the number of AMS units, but rather the way their outputs are routed to the hotends.
Note: Filament is always guided alternately, not simultaneously into both nozzles – when switching, the AMS first retracts the filament and then feeds it into the second path.

Installation and Use

  • Perform installation according to the official Bambu Lab instructions (Wiki / video tutorial).
  • The module is usually mounted on the back of the printer near the filament inlets.
  • Connection:
    • connect the PTFE tubes between the AMS, Filament Track Switch, and filament inlets on the printer,
    • connect the 6-pin cable to the dedicated port on the printer,
    • in Bambu Studio, activate Filament Track Switch support and configure which inlets/AMS supply individual nozzles.
After correct installation, specific AMS slots can be assigned to the left or right nozzle in Bambu Studio according to the model, colors, or material. The slicer then automatically optimizes switching to minimize purge and delay times.
